Claes Laurent

PhD. student

Claes Laurent, was born in Stockholm in 1958, (he grew up in Uppsala though!). He received a MSc in electrical engineering and applied physics from Linköping Institute of Technology in 1983. After a few years as a programmer he began at The Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) in Linköping in 1986. Since then he's been at the Dept. of Laser Systems at FOI where he's doing research on fibre optic sensors. In 1993 he began as a part time PhD student at the Department of Biomedical Engineering studying photoplethysmography (PPG). Current research projects include blood pressure measurements in the brachial artery using PPG, PPG signal processing and fundamental research about the PPG signals origin.

If you don't find him at work you may look for him in schools nearby were he teaches young students traffic safety. Claes is a great fan and one of the founders of the students amateur theatre; Linköpings Studentspex. You can also take a look at his personal homepage
