Gert E. Nilsson was born in Malmö, Sweden
on the 12th of June 1947. He received the M.Sc. degree from Lund
University 1972 and the PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering from
Linköping University, Sweden 1977. From 1980 to 1983 he served
as associate professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering,
Linköping University. He worked as a development manager
for Gambro Cardio AB from 1983 to 1985 and as development manager
for Perimed AB from 1985 to 1987. Dr Nilsson became full professor
in Biomedical Instrumentation at Linköping University, Sweden
1987. From July 1990 to June 1993 he served as head of the Department
of Biomedical Engineering, Linköping University. From 1993
to 1996 Dr. Nilsson held the position as chairman of the faculty
committee for appointment of associate professors at the Technical
Faculty, Linköping University. From 1994 to 1995 he coordinated
a group for planning and preparation of the NIMED Centre of Excellence
in Biomedical Engineering at Linköping University. Between
1997 and 2000 Dr. Nilsson served as coordinator for the EU-project
HIRELADO (High Resolution Laser Doppler Perfusion Imaging in Dermatology)
and between 1997 and 2001 ha was a member of the board of directors
for Berzelius Science Park, Linköping. Dr. Nilsson is currently
the Director of the competence centre NIMED.
